Open Ostara Ritual

March 19, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm UTC-4

Spring is just around the corner! Join us as we usher in and celebrate the Vernal Equinox with a ritual for Ostara. The Sun is entering Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. This is typically a time of new beginnings and making a fresh start.

In Chinese thought, spring is associated with the direction of east – the sunrise direction as Earth spins us toward the beginning of each new day.

The March equinox marks the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from south to north. The sun rises due east and sets due west for all of us.

The sun is on the celestial equator, and the celestial equator intersects all of our horizons at points due east and due west. This makes the day of an equinox a fine time to find due east and due west from your yard or other favorite site for watching the sky. Just go outside around sunset or sunrise and notice the location of the sun on the horizon with respect to familiar landmarks.

Hosted by: Grail of the Birch Moon, 11th coven of the Assembly of the Sacred Wheel

What to bring: You! and a snack to share (finger foods) for post ritual fellowship. Ritual wear is encouraged but not required.

We will gather in the Community Room. Use the glass doorway to the left of the store and take the elevator or stairs to the lower level.

To assist us with planning, we ask that you keep your RSVP up to date. Thank you!
